Health Department Investigating Staph Infections at Tallahassee Clinic

The Leon County Health Department is investigating an unexpected number of invasive staph infections at the Pain Institute of North Florida. And health officials want to hear from people who were treated at the center. “If you were a patient at the Pain Institute of North Florida, 2770 Capital Medical Boulevard, between March 10 – March 21, and have not yet received a call from the Leon County Health Department, please call us as soon as possible at 850-606-8161,” said Marjorie Kirsch, MD, Leon County Health Department’s Medical Director. “Our goal is to protect the public’s health.” The Health Department was asked by the owner of the Pain Institute to conduct the investigation, according to a news release issued this afternoon. Possible Association Between Use Of Singulair And Behavior/Mood Changes, Suicidality, And Suicide

FDA informed healthcare professionals and patients of the Agency's investigation of the possible association between the use of Singulair and behavior/mood changes, suicidality (suicidal thinking and behavior) and suicide. Singulair is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used to treat asthma and the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and to prevent exercise-induced asthma. Read
