Spring 2004 Highlights
FLFM Partners with LAAT for Riley School Supply Drive
Fonvielle
Lewis Foote & Messer
teamed up again this year with the Legal Administrators Association of
Tallahassee
in a supply drive with Riley School. Hundreds of notebooks, crayons,
pencils, backpacks and the like were donated to help elementary age students
in need. Receiving the deliveries of supplies were School Principal Mary
Allen, along with School Social Worker Judy Faust and Assistant Principal
Sylvia Collier. “ We just appreciate this so much and we thank
you for choosing Riley,” exclaimed Ms. Allen.
With
the help of numerous volunteers, the school made a remarkable achievement,
raising their school grade from a D to a B! FLF&M salutes the teachers
and staff of Riley Elementary for their hard work and diligence that
paid off so very well. We wish Riley the best of luck for another successful
school year.
The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers
Fourth Annual Holiday Event
The
Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers sponsored its Fourth Annual Holiday
Event in honor of one of Tallahassee’s largest organizations dedicated
to the health and safety of hundreds of local children, the Children’s
Home Society. Of the 50 children participating in the event, the majority
were foster kids who have been abused, abandoned or neglected. The event
was held December 17, 2003, at the Old Barn at Feather Oaks and included
traditional festivities, hayrides, pony rides, a moonwalk and a The Academy
of Florida Trial Lawyers Fourth Annual Holiday Event surprise visit from
Santa. Bicycles, toys and household supplies were donated at the charity
event, as well as a meal that included hundreds of bakery treats for
the children, all of which FLF&M contributed.
Girl Scouts Participate in Holiday
Giving
for Children with Diabetes
As
a service project, Girl Scouts from a local troop decided to help make
a Christmas party more fun. The party, given by the Diabetes Family Support
(DFS) group and supported by Fonvielle Lewis Foote & Messer, benefits
children with diabetes. To draw the focus away from holiday sweets, the
Scouts prepared three craft items for the diabetic kids to make at the
party. Craft items were painted, sorted, and packaged for each child
by the Scouts. They also assembled goodie bags filled with stuffed animals,
games, balls, pens, and other holiday fun. Scouts participating were
Ashyln Laughlin (daughter of FLF&M paralegal Connie Laughlin), Kelsey
Tate (daughter of FLF&M Administrator Sandra Tate), Austyn Aronson
and Savannah Jane Pierce.
"We appreciate the efforts of the Scouts on our behalf and thank
FLF&M for supporting our group," said DFS Coordinator Lisa Harvey.
Firm Supports Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Fonvielle Lewis Foote & Messer
has donated $10,000 to the North Florida chapter of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, an organization that reaches out to thousands of
teenage boys and girls across the Big Bend area. Over the years, many
of the firm’s injured clients have been FCA members, so this contribution
is being made in their honor. Furthermore, many of the partners’ own
children have been involved or are currently involved in the program,
so we know first hand the wonderful benefits that such a program can
have on our youth. While our firm is simply unable to fulfill every request
that we receive for donations, the FCA reaches out to over 100 high schools
and middle schools in the region, so this was clearly an opportunity
for us to help spread the good word far and wide!
