FLF&M continues to serve the community, and their latest
effort involves the creation of TallahasseeBaseball.com,
a website that includes information on all Tallahassee City Parks and
Recreation baseball
leagues. The website was launched at the end of February, and information
on
Tallahassee softball leagues will soon be included on the site. These
leagues serve boys and girls ages five to 19, approximately 1,300 children
and young adults in the area. Rosters, schedules, individual league information,
links to area high school baseball programs, travel teams and baseball
camp information can be found on the site.
As covered in the Fall 2001
issue of Law Talk, Partner Hal Lewis is a “passionate
baseball fan and historian.” His love for the game and interest
in seeing children learn from the sport is evident. The
extensive baseball card collection of Lewis and his son, Halley, can
also be linked from the site.
Neal Evans, Chairman of the Council of
League Presidents, and Coordinator for Tallahassee Dizzy Dean League,
affirms that the site is very helpful because there are so many people
he needs to get information to about the baseball programs. The programs
are changing and growing constantly, so
it is important that the information gets out as quickly as possible,
especially when it comes to weather and field conditions. Evans believes
this website will help accelerate baseball in Tallahassee
even more.
“
Thanks to the help of Hal and resources of FLF&M, there is now a
service base to tell people about what we’re doing. I can’t
thank Hal and FLF&M enough.
This is going to have a huge impact on the Tallahassee baseball community,” Evans
said. Hal Lewis is an avid baseball lover and remains active in Tallahassee
youth
baseball
programs. |
